Lipitor (Lowering cholesterol medicine)

Lipitor is used for lowering high cholesterol and triglycerides in certain patients. It also increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL, “good”) cholesterol levels. How should I take atorvastatin?

Lipitor may be taken with or without food.
Atorvastatin is usually taken once a day. Try to take your dose at the same time each day.
Take each dose with a full glass of water.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase the risk of side effects from Lipitor .
Eat a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet. To realize beneficial effects from Lipitor (atorvastatin), avoid fatty, high-cholesterol foods.
ontinue to take Lipitor even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
If you miss a dose of Lipitor , take it as soon as possible.
