Nexium is used for treating ulcers, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD or heartburn), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production.
Nexium is an acid pump inhibitor (or proton pump inhibitor). It works by turning off some of the acid pumps in the stomach lining and reducing the amount of acid backing up into the esophagus .
What is the most important things you should know about Nexium:
-Do not stop taking Nexium even if you begin to feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the condition is fully
treated.
-Do not break or chew the Nexium capsules. Swallow them whole.
How should I take Nexium?
* Take Nexium on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before eating.
* Swallow Nexium whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.
* Antacids may be taken while using Nexium .
* If you miss a dose of Nexium , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

If you have an allergic reaction : closing of your throat; difficulty breathing; swelling of your lips, tongue, or fac; stop taking esomeprazole and seek emergency medical attention.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Nexium and talk to your doctor if you experience
